Thua Thien Hue province has just concluded six vibrant and joyful days of festivities. The Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024 (June 7-12) with the theme "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development" brought together nearly 30 art troupes from France, Belgium, Spain, Canada, Japan, China, South Korea, and Vietnam, offering audiences a series of art performances that deeply embody the cultural essence of various regions around the world. These artistic performances were beautifully interwoven within the ancient and cultural ambiance of the former imperial capital, which boasts eight UNESCO-recognized heritage sites. Huế, the Festival City of Vietnam, continues to shine as a lively, environmentally friendly urban center committed to sustainable development.
More than 565 artists, musicians, singers, and performers, both domestic and international, along with a large number of amateur artists, students, and youth groups, all participated with enthusiasm, showcasing the uniqueness, elegance, and diversity of various art forms. They passionately performed on stage, delivering an artistic feast filled with cultural identity and expressing the aspiration for a peaceful, friendly, and cooperative world where nations grow together.
With 12 main programs, 24 art performances on various stages, and nearly 10 accompanying and supporting activities, displays, and exhibitions held throughout the province, the events during the Hue International Arts Festival Week attracted a large audience, with highlights such as:
- The “Festive Beginning” Program in front of Ngo Mon Gate: nearly 2,000 attendees;
- The Opening program of the Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024: around 5,000 attendees;
- The Street Festival "Cultural Colors": approximately 20,000 spectators participated over the two days at both the North and South Banks;
- Performances by domestic and international art troupes: with 20 performances on two public stages, serving 30,000 spectators. The Quốc Học Stele stage, in particular, attracted a large number of fans, with an average attendance of 2,000 to nearly 3,000 people per performance;
- Music program “Talking about Trinh Cong Son – The Found Love": approximately 5,000 attendees;
- Royal Banquet by Night and Royal Gastronomy by Night, positioned as high-end service segments, catered to approximately 350 VIP guests;
- The Light Festival, held over 11 nights, drew more than 10,120 visitors;
- The Beer Festival: over 10,000 attendees with 50,000 live views on Facebook Fanpage;
- The Vegetarian cuisine Festival served over 5,000 visitors over two days, while The Floating Lantern Festival attracted nearly 4,000 visitors;
- The Tam Giang Wave Festival, with a series of activities over two days and nights, attracted an estimated 15,000 spectators;
- “Be with Hue Festival" (The Closing program of Hue International Arts Festival 2024) attracted approximately 6,000 attendees and thousands more indirectly at the Ngo Mon Square.
In addition, various supporting activities also attracted a large number of visitors, such as: the contemporary dance performance “Reflection” by artist Xuan Le - France, the “Painting Street at Hue Festival 2024” exhibition, the “Fine Arts and Heritage III” exhibition, the “Buddhist Culture – Huế Festival 2024” exhibition, the photography exhibition “Road to Paris Olympics 2024!”.
During the Hue International Arts Festival Week 2024, the Hue Imperial Citadel Complex recorded the following visitor numbers: International Visitors: 7,695; Vietnamese Visitors: 46,805; Total Visitors: 54,500. Estimated revenue: 8,000,000,000 VND.
According to statistics from the Department of Tourism, between June 7 and June 12, 2024, the total number of visitors to Thừa Thiên Huế is estimated at 101,000, with tourism service revenue estimated at VND 159 billion. The number of overnight visitors is estimated at 49,000 (including nearly 9,310 international visitors), with an average hotel occupancy rate of 70%.

In the month leading up to and during the Huế International Arts Festival Week, the Festival Hue Fanpage and the Hue Monuments Conservation Center Fanpage attracted more than 7,000,000 reach, 260,000 interactions, and followings of festival content and art programs. The FESTIVAL HUE YouTube channel and Tiktok @huefestival garnered over 500,000 views and more than 2,000 comments on video programs.
The Organizing Committee connected Facebook Fanpages across the province to jointly promote the Hue Festival through live-streaming the festival, sharing information, and content to simultaneously post on pages such as: Visit Hue Fanpage, The HUE of HUE Fanpage, Thua Thien Hue Intelligent Operations Center Fanpage, Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee Fanpage, Huda Beer Fanpage, etc.
The use of information platforms and live-streaming programs on social media like Facebook has enhanced the effectiveness of the Organizing Committee's communication, reaching audiences not only nationwide but also worldwide. Connections and interactions were made with Facebook Fanpages of embassies, art troupes, and artists across continents, such as the Embassy of Belgium in Vietnam Fanpage, Embassy of Canada to Vietnam Fanpage, Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation to Vietnam Fanpage, Koninklijke Steltenlopers Merchtem Fanpage, Steve Barakatt Fanpage, Double Impro Fanpage, and 鼓舞楽団 浦風 Fanpage from Japan.
The overarching purpose of the Huế International Arts Festival Week is to honor the traditional cultural and artistic values of the nation, serving as a venue for cultural exchange between regions of Vietnam and the world, and as a forum for solidarity, friendship, and cooperation aimed at peace, stability, and sustainable development. With a wide range of large-scale activities, a diverse array of participants, and continuous events in an open space, certain limitations, shortcomings, and imperfections were inevitable. Unfavorable weather conditions posed significant challenges to the organization, leading to some programs and activities facing unforeseen obstacles.
