The International Kite Festival 2023 will be held from June 3 to June 9, 2023 within the framework of the Summer Festival of Hue Festival 2023. The Festival, with the participation of many Southeast Asia Countries, will include art-kite-flying exchange events, kite exhibition and kite-making demonstration.
The International Kite Festival 2023 is organized to promote and preserve the art of kite making and flying, and to form and develop a new culture - art - tourism festival in Thua Thien Hue in the summer.
The International Kite Festival 2023 will be held from June 3 to June 9, 2023 with art kite-flying performances, kite exhibition and kite-making demonstration. The Opening Ceremony is to take place at 16:30 on June 3, 2023 at Tu Tuong Park.
The kite exhibition will be organized at Tu Tuong Park for the convenience of visitors and local residents when they take a stroll along Le Loi and Nguyen Dinh Chieu walking streets. The exhibition displays 120 traditional kites with wingspans from 1.5m to 3m, especially the dragon kite with a wingspan of 50m, including kites in various shapes such as: dragon, phoenix, peacock, hawk, crow, swallow, chicken, butterfly, and goldfish.
The Kite-making demonstration entitled "Childhood kites" at Tu Tuong Park will guide children through the process of making a kite and let the children make their own kites and decorate them according to their preferences.
Especially, there will be Art-kite-flying exchange events from 15:00 to 18:00 at Ngo Mon Square (from June 4 to June 5 and on June 8); Thuan An Beach (from June 6 to June 7) with the participation of international kite clubs from: Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. On the part of the host country, there will be the presence of Hue Kite Artisans and other domestic kite clubs, including Canh Dieu Vang Club & Restaurant (Nam Dinh), Phuong Hoang Art Kite Club and Huong Duong Kite Club (Ho Chi Minh City).
The Festival promises to be an attraction to visitors, a playground and an opportunity for kite-lovers to enjoy this art form. It also provides a chance for domestic and international artisans to meet their counterparts, exchange their experiences, improve their expertise, and introduce their cultural identity to each other.
