Key events at the Hue Festival 2020
Returning for its eleventh edition scheduled from April 1 to 6, 2020, Hue Festival 2020 is to mark the 20-year milestone of Vietnam’s first internationally-acclaimed event of culture, arts, and tourism.
Returning for its eleventh edition scheduled from April 1 to 6, 2020, Hue Festival 2020 is to mark the 20-year milestone of Vietnam’s first internationally-acclaimed event of culture, arts, and tourism.

Hue Festival 2020, with its theme “Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development; Hue: Always Something New to Discover”, continues to reap the rewards of ten previous editions to deliver festival-goers a new way of experiencing culture, history, and arts:

The Grand Opening Ceremony - 20:00, April 1, 2020: casting a spotlight on traditional and contemporary culture values of the ancient capital city, Vietnam and many countries around the world; and presenting beauty of the endless discoveries of Thau Thien Hue province and of Hue -  "a city of complete harmony" with four blooming seasons, a green city with environmental soundness and sustainable development;

Nam Giao Offering Ritual - 01:00, April 1, 2020: a periodical celebration of profound humanities under Nguyen dynasty aiming to pray for favourable weather conditions, prosperity and peace;

The spectacle “Royal Hue’s Essence” - 20:00, April 3, 2020: reimagining the quintessences of the 19th century Vietnam’s history and civilization through Hue royal art and traditional art masterpieces. It is the process of constructing the country, exercising sovereignty, unifying territorial integrity and maintaining peaceful life for all peoples;

Trinh Cong Son’s Music Concert - 20:00, April 4, 2020: a story told through the treasured musical heritage of the late composer Trinh Cong Son entitled "Hue is my lover, my dream";

Ao Dai Fashion Show will offer a diversified array of programs – varied in themes – shedding light on the values and imprints of Hue’s Ao Dai in daily life through the language of fashion, music and other art forms with an introduction of Ao Dai collections by top fashion Vietnam designers. The grand show will take place at 20:00, April 5, 2020;

Cuisine-fest: “Hue – Capital of Gastronomy”: The ancient capital city of Hue still preserves a rich culinary heritage and a sophisticated culinary culture, which can be seen as a "capital of gastronomy" that captivates tourists.

Street Parades: “Colors of Cultures” - 16:30, from April 2 to 6, 2020: inheriting the diverse performing styles presented by domestic and international art troupes from the past festivals. Street parades at Hue Festival 2020 continues to improve the quality whilst exploiting the precious cultural heritages of the country through the processions and folk performances in an effort to honor cultural values that embody rich national identities;

 

 


ASEAN Night - a performance of Southeast Asian cultures through the unique colors of national costumes, fashion and music;

International Dance Festival 2020 will be held from March 31 to April 5, 2020;

Art performances by local and international art troupes - April 2 to 6, 2020: will be staged inside the Citadel, An Dinh Palace, Ngo Mon Square, Trinh Cong Son Park, Da Vien Bridge Park & other community venues in the city center;
